Clear targets, whether its hitting Q2 numbers or training for a marathon, give us purpose and direction. But without moments of levity, even the best roadmap feels like walking a treadmill to Barry Manilow.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Fun isn’t frivolous; it’s the spark that keeps us moving toward the finish line with energy and creativity.
For a change experiment (and a diversion from the more strategic imperatives filling every day), I’m testing this out with a team I rarely get to partner with on a little layered gamification. We’re stumbling through unknown territory, turning a straightforward exercise into a mini “quest” complete with badges and surprise twists. We have no guarantee we can put it into play, or if we do that it will land, but that uncertainty is half the delight. Because when you invite play into the process, you transform routine work into an experience people actually want to join.
So the next time you map out priorities, build in a burst of play. Trade your status update for a two-minute chair dance break, host an emoji-only brainstorm or pepper your next slide deck with a cheeky GIF. Think of fun as strategic fuel, because the best breakthroughs often happen when we make room for a little magic!
