Dream Smarter

Saw a post the other day. “4-day workweek is Gen Z’s dream.”
And this Gen X girl thought—dream smarter!
Because the dream isn’t shaving a day off the calendar.

It’s building a life where the work works—on your terms, in your rhythm, and without erasing the rest of you to make it happen.

And yes, I work hard.
I’ve worked through illness, heartbreak, and systems that weren’t built for people like me to thrive.
But the goal was never the grind. It was what the grind gave me.

Clarity.
Skill.
A few folks who say nice things behind my back and mean it.
And a rhythm that includes both deadlines and snacks.

I used to think that was luck.
But no; turns out it was me making weird, semi-intentional choices over time.
[Heavy on the semi.]

You start by noticing what feels like effort and what feels like energy.
You collect the parts of yourself that got you here—the ones they don’t print on business cards.
And slowly, you build a working life that actually fits.

That’s the real dream.
Not less work.
Just more you in the work you do.
