Not Everyone Deserves a Seat in Your Head

Some people give advice like they’re tossing glitter… it gets everywhere, looks kind of pretty in the moment, and then weeks later you’re still finding it in places that make you question your life choices.

I’ve learned (the expensive way) that advice isn’t scarce.
What’s scarce is wisdom without an agenda.

Everyone wants to tell you what to do, especially the ones who’ve never done it.
You’ll meet people who haven’t built a thing but will happily draw you a blueprint.
People who’ve never been punched in the face by failure but will still teach a masterclass on resilience.
And the ever-popular “supportive friend” who cheers for your dreams as long as they don’t evolve faster than theirs.

But every once in a while, you find the rare ones.
The ones who don’t need your gratitude or your LinkedIn tag.
The ones who tell you the truth that makes your stomach drop a little; but your life rise to meet it.
They’re not trying to win with you. They’re trying to make sure you don’t lose yourself.

If you’re lucky, you’ll collect a few of these voices over time.
-They’ll shape your SKILLS by showing—not telling—what mastery looks like.
-They’ll stretch your NETWORK by introducing you to people who make you rethink your definition of “good company.”
-They’ll guide your ACTIVITIES by reminding you that growth rarely happens in comfort.
-And they’ll deepen your KNOWLEDGE by handing you lessons wrapped in blunt honesty instead of bow-tied flattery.

Everyone else?
Smile. Nod. Move on.
Because authenticity doesn’t mean being endlessly open.
It means knowing which frequencies deserve access to your inner radio.
And sometimes, that means turning the volume down, not to be polite, but to hear yourself think again.
